Carl F. Certa, Sr. peacefully passed away on July 22, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. Born on September 11, 1948, in Port Arthur, Carl was a man of remarkable character and dedication, whose contributions to both his family and community will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A devoted family man, Carl was proud of his role as a father and grandfather. He is survived by his son, Carl Foster Certa, Jr. of Port Neches; and his cherished grandchildren, Sean Preston Certa and Braylee Elise Certa. Carl's love for his family was evident in all he did, and he found immense joy in his role as a grandfather, creating lasting memories and bonds that will carry forward through future generations. He is also survived by his sister, Jan Ann Frederick of Crystal Beach, who shared in many fond moments over the years.
Carl dedicated over 35 years of his life to his career, serving as the Chief Operator for Fina (Total), where his work ethic and commitment left a lasting impression on his colleagues and the company alike. His contributions to the field were notable, and his retirement was well-earned, marking a significant chapter in a life dedicated to service and industry.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Carl enjoyed a variety of pastimes. He was an avid fisherman, finding peace and solace by the water's edge. Additionally, he delighted in playing poker, often showcasing his sharp wit and strategic thinking at the card table. Golf was another passion of his, providing further opportunity for relaxation and enjoyment.
Carl's life was filled with the warmth of love shared with his late wife, Bonnie Certa, and the lessons imparted by his parents, Pete and Betty Certa, both of whom have preceded him in death. The memories they created together, rich with laughter and support, remain etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on July 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas 77619, followed by a burial service at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, located at 618 Block Street, Port Neches, TX 77651.
As we remember Carl F. Certa, Sr., let us celebrate the life he led, a life brimming with love, laughter, and lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit and devotion remain with us, a guiding light, and a reminder of the importance of family and friendship.
