Carl Jane Doty Obituary

Carl Doty preceded Jane in death on August 8, 2020. Born in Indiana, Carl earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Butler University. He spent the majority of his career at R.R. Donnelley & Sons, where he rose through the ranks to become President before taking early retirement. He then happily embarked on a second career-as a year-round golfer. Carl and Jane split their time between Longboat Key, Florida, and Burr Ridge, Illinois.
Carl was intelligent, determined, and a remarkably successful executive. Yet, his professional accomplishments always came second to Jane and their family. He would want to be remembered for his sharp wit, his fierce competitiveness on the golf course (and his unmatched talent for creative cursing), his skill at cards, and his surprising ability to grow the best tomatoes around. Most of all, he would want to be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. He was our founder and our guide-a man of the highest moral character. He taught us sacrifice, humor, and resilience. He was always there to listen, to encourage, to empathize, and to offer a helping hand.
Jane Beach was born on a cattle ranch in Lewis and Clark, Montana. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Carroll College and worked as a highly dedicated nurse until retiring to focus on raising her growing family. Even in retirement, she continued to share her nursing knowledge with her community and in the schools her children attended. Jane was a tireless volunteer-serving as a leader in women's clubs, Meals on Wheels, the Girl Scouts, and as president of the Newcomers Club, among countless other roles over the years. Resourceful and hands-on, she could fix just about anything that broke. She had a deep love for her gardens, especially her roses, and thrived in the company of friends, cherishing her bridge and golf groups. Jane will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother-someone who lived her life in service of others, with strength, love, and boundless generosity
