Carlene Lakin Obituary

Carlene Marie (Green) Lakin, age 85, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025. She was born in Indianapolis on September 6, 1939, to Carl and Gladys (Howe) Green. She graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1957. She married Donald G. Lakin on August 7, 1959.
Carlene worked for Westminster North as an administrative assistant for 20 years, before retiring in 1997. She was also a Mary Kay Consultant for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenfield, and the Order of the Eastern Star-Indianapolis/Keystone. She enjoyed reading, traveling, spending time with her family, and attending her grandsons' sporting events and band activities.
She is survived by her children, Michael Lakin of Indianapolis, IN, Sandra Williams of Greenfield, IN, Sally (Mike) Crockett of Fortville, IN, Jill (Mark) Martin of Greenfield, IN, and Janet (Tony) Maiden of Poland, IN; grandchildren, Zakary and Jakob Williams, Mitchell, Matthew, Jamie, Jesse, and Jasmine Crockett, Nicholas (Danielle) Maiden, Nathan Maiden, and Jackson Martin; several great-grandchildren; sister, Becky Jean (Tom) Simpson of Florida; brother-in-law, Tom Lakin of Indianapolis, IN; and sister-in-law, Norma Lakin of Brownsburg, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; grandsons, Blake Williams and Michael Crockett; sister, Patricia Lee Latz; brother, Russell Green; and son-in-law, Tony Williams.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Roger Kinion officiating. Burial will be Washington Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
