With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carmela Minano, who departed this life on July 9, 2025, at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Francesco Minano, with whom she shared 48 cherished years of marriage until his passing in 2006.
Carmela was the devoted mother of Joe (Carol), Maria Minano, Lucia (Felix) Steele, Gino (Toni), and James. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Alexander (Charles) Steele, Amanda (Marc) Fick, Donavan Minano, and Miles. She was the dear sister of the late Yolanda (the late Emilio) Giglio and Lucia (Benny) Romano. Carmela will be forever loved and missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Born in Guardia Piemontese, Italy, Carmela met the love of her life, Francesco, in her hometown. Together, they built a life grounded in faith, family, and deep devotion. She was a woman of incredible warmth and generosity-always ready to help others and quick to offer a comforting meal or a sweet treat from her kitchen. Her garden was her sanctuary, and the joy of her grandchildren filled her heart.
Carmela's legacy is one of love, strength, and selfless giving.
Friends and family are invited to honor Carmela's life on Monday, July 14, 2025. She will lie in state beginning at 9:30am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 10:00am at Assumption Grotto Catholic Church, 13770 Gratiot Avenue, Detroit.
She will be remembered always-for her loving spirit, generous heart, and the many lives she touched with kindness.
