Carol Prevost Carter, 78, of Jackson, passed away on July 5, 2025, at her home in Jackson, MS.
Carol was born on July 12, 1946, and was a native of Cleveland, Mississippi. She married James Carter, and they had two children, Terry and Kelly. Carol graduated from Blue Mountain College with a degree in nursing. She was employed in labor and delivery before retiring from nursing in 2000. Carol found a special place at church serving in the nursery. She loved the children she watched over each Sunday. She also served the church by playing the piano during services.
In August 2022, Carol married Bruce Brown, and they enjoyed their time together.
Carol is survived by loving spouse Bruce Brown; granddaughter, JC Baxter; sister-in-law, Paulette Penton (Corbett Lee); brother-in-laws, Dewey Laron Brown (Shirley), Steven B. Brown (Margie), and Michael D. Brown (Sandra); and her adopted family, Jonathan and Lydia Decker and their children, Matilda and Grant Decker.
She was preceded in death by her first husband James; and daughters, Terry Faith Baxter and Kelly Hope Carter.
Visitation will be held at Natchez Trace Funeral Home on Monday July 7, 2025, from 1:00pm until 2:45pm. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at Jessamine Cemetery in Ridgeland, MS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to French Camp Academy, One Fine Place Franch Camp, MS 39745.
Mrs. Carol requested anyone that attended her service to dress casually.
