Carol Jean Edwards, age 84, of Tuscaloosa, AL, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. No services will be held at this time.
She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Edwards; mother, Rubye Edwards; brother, Alvin D. Edwards; sister-in-law, Betty A. Edwards; and long-time friend and companion, Albert Wayne Gray.
Carol is survived by her niece, Melonie E. Faulkner, of Voorhees, NJ; and nephews, Claude D. Edwards and Mark A. Edwards, both of Tuscaloosa, AL.
Carol was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on February 22, 1941. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and later earned her degree from The University of Alabama. After graduation, she and four close friends – who proudly called themselves the "Fab Five"- moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to embark on a new adventure.
She made her home in the Atlanta area for the rest of her life, before retiring to Tuscaloosa in 2023. Over the course of her career, she worked in accounting and administrative roles for companies in Atlanta, until her retirement.
Carol was gifted in both gardening and art. She created beautiful gardens and produced many drawings and paintings, winning awards at local art shows. Carol took great pride in her art work and found joy in sharing her creations with friends and family.
Her family extends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Dr. Brian Whilhite and her devoted caregivers at Capstone Village Traditions Way, Heritage Healthcare and Rehab, and Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
