Carol Jo Potter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 6, 2025, at the age of 78.

Born on December 19, 1946, to Myrtle Mildred Newton and John Mitchell Riley Haskins, Carol grew up surrounded by the love and strength of her close-knit family. She carried those values with her throughout her life, touching the lives of many with her compassion and quiet grace.

On August 9, 1969, Carol married the love of her life, Areon Potter, in Salem, Oregon. Their marriage was a beautiful example of lifelong devotion, marked by mutual respect, enduring partnership, and deep affection. Together, they built a family that was the center of Carol’s world.

She was a devoted mother to Ryan Potter and Troy Potter, and a proud and loving grandmother to Jayde, Riley, Riana, and Jovie, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her love for her family was steady and unconditional, expressed in thoughtful gestures, warm hugs, and the countless ways she showed up for the people she loved.

Carol found peace and pleasure in the simple joys of life. She had a passion for sewing, a deep appreciation for gardening, and a love of the outdoors that she expressed through camping and hiking. These hobbies were more than pastimes they were ways she connected with nature, expressed her creativity, and shared meaningful moments with family and friends.

Her life journey took her to several places that each held special meaning: Nampa, Idaho (2 years), Elko, Nevada (8 years), Arvada, Colorado (22 years), and Salem, Oregon (23 years), where many of her lasting friendships and family memories were made.

Carol was preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Haskins and Kathy Schmidt, whom she loved dearly and whose memories she carried with her always. She is survived by her loving husband, Areon; her sons, Ryan and Troy; her cherished grandchildren; and her sister, Joan Reimer. Her presence will be profoundly missed and her memory lovingly treasured.

Carol will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering kindness, and the quiet dignity with which she lived her life. She had a way of making others feel seen and cared for whether through a thoughtful conversation, a shared walk in the garden, or a lovingly stitched quilt. Her warmth and grace leave a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
