Carol Charlotte Robertson, of Lewiston, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at age 91. She was born on June 18, 1934, in Lemmon, S.D., to Ernest and Doretta Kurth. Carol joined her sisters Alice (Huwe) and Doris (Perry), and brothers Morris and Kent. A few months later the family headed west, and finding Dayton, Wash., to their liking, they established their new home.
Carol graduated from Dayton High School with the class of 1952. She married Dariel Anderson and had two sons, Brad and Kent. This marriage ended in divorce. In 1969, Carol married Wally Robertson and assisted him in his dental practice. In 1997, they retired to their "hobby farm" on the Tucannon River, where they raised cattle, sheep and hay. She enjoyed the farming life, growing a garden, taking care of barn cats and farm dogs and feeding the ranch hands, although stating, "the kitchen closes at 10 p.m." They sold the farm in 2004 and became full-time "RVers." Carol and Wally had many years of interesting and rewarding adventures, traveling the highways and byways of the great United States. In 2015, when they got to the end of the trail, they sold the RV and settled in Lewiston.
Carol was a member of the First Christian Church in Dayton and later Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lewiston. She was very involved in church life: leading a Fit and Fall Proof class and enjoying the challenge of Precepts Bible Study.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Wally; sons Brad Anderson (Kay), of Walla Walla, and Kent Anderson (Judy), of Lewiston; sister Doris Perry, of Des Moines, Wash.; sister-in-law Rebecca Kurth, of Olympia; stepson-in-law Lee Kolbo, of Omaha, Neb.; stepdaughter Carol Swider, of St. John, Wash; grandchildren Sarah Hlebichuk (Adrian) and Tim Anderson; and step-grandchildren Nichole Gatewood (Joshua), Jenna Bucklin (Granger), Eliza Kolbo, Clara Fusco (Anthony), Thomas Kolbo (Nicole), James Kolbo and John Kolbo. There are also 12 great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Doretta Kurth, sister Alice Huwe, brothers Morris and Kent Kurth, stepdaughter Hazel Lyn Kolbo (Lee), stepson Thomas Robertson (Melissa), stepson-in-law Steve Swider and step-granddaughter Mary Meese.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 18, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2200 11th Ave., Lewiston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Blue Mountain Community Foundation, 22 E. Poplar St., No. 206, Walla Walla, WA 99362 or to a charity of your choice.
