Carol Hextell Sleezer of Millbrook, Illinois passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 21st, 2025. Carol was born on September 28th, 1957, to Howard and Ruth Hextell of Newark, Illinois where Carol was born and raised. After graduating from Newark High School, she attended Western Illinois University where she earned her bachelor's degree in business. After graduating college, she married Edward F. Sleezer on September 24, 1983, and together they raised four children on their farm in Millbrook, IL. Carol spent some years working retail and working at the Newark Post Office between her time as a stay-at-home mom before deciding to return to school where she earned her Masters Degree in Special Education and went on to work as a teacher. Carol was a Master Gardener who enjoyed spending time outside. She loved to travel and made many wonderful memories camping all over the country with family and friends. She also loved a good shopping trip with her sisters and daughters.
Carol is survived by her husband of 42 years Edward Sleezer, her four children Andrew (Christine) Sleezer, Dane Sleezer, Rachel (Greg) Slivka, and Meredith (Jeremy) Gauer, her 5 grandchildren Colton, AJ, Luca, Pearl, and Van, her two sisters Jane (Karl) Norem of Ottawa, IL and Tina (Jeff) McCoy of Windham, NH, and her brother Paul Hextell of DeBary, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Ruth Hextell, her brother Jon Hextell, and her sister, in infancy, Mary Louise Hextell.
Memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Gabel Dunn Funeral Home at 102 S Johnson St Newark, IL. A memorial service will be held on Friday May 30, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Millbrook Methodist Church at 8360 Fox River Road in Millbrook, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
