Carol "Lou" Sloan, age 79, of the Robinette Valley Community, Duffield, VA went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, July 24, 2025 while at Nova Health and Rehabilitation following a very brief and courageously fought battle with cancer.

She was born May 8, 1946 in Scott County, VA a daughter of the late John and Laura (Presley) Henry. She was a loving wife, mother and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she always enjoyed seeing. She was a wonderful sister and friend to many. She was known for her fiercely independent nature, which was sometimes stubborn and that was evident in her hard fight during her illness.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Elmer Earl Sloan, who passed away in 1989. 4 Brothers; Gaines, Ballard, John and Jim Henry. 2 Sisters; Mozzella Henry and Alice " Red" Arnold and a very special nephew; Jared Dockery.

Lou is survived by 2 daughters; Tina Byrd and husband Harold of Gate City, VA and Sandi Corrigan and husband Dennis of Kingsport, TN

6 grandchildren; Hunter Napier, Tanner Napier, Conner Napier, Chloe Napier, Victoria Walsh and Christina Williams and wife Lakenya.

4 great grandchildren; Jameson, Piper, River and Colson. A special friend; Sue Collier along with several cousins, nieces, nephews and other family also survive.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11 AM in the Sloan Family Cemetery, Robinette Valley Road, Duffield, VA with Pastor Mark "Pete" Barbour officiating. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am for the service.

Carol Sloan became my friend after we did a play at the Raleigh North Carolina little theater in 1973. The play was called Dames at Sea a story of the Navy and I had just gotten out of the Navy and I was the only sailor on stage that had a real navy uniform, which I wore in Vietnam. I was 12 years younger than her a few years went by. We didn´t see each other until I was a waiter in a French restaurant and she walked in. She was back in town and I waited on her and she did remember me. Another time I took some friends in tuxedos we were to a nightclub in Chapel Hill called Stevens after all. After she performed on stage, she came and sat at our table because she recognized me in the audience, and my friends were so impressed that I knew her. I am shocked to learn of her passing, and how time has flown by. She will forever be in my heart and my memories of the times we spent together. Rest in peace, my beautiful friend.
