Carolyn Jean King Ashcraft, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, at the age of 77, in
Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on July 18, 1947, in Georgetown, Kentucky, to the late Stanley and Lorena King. Carolyn's life was a testament to the power of love and the joy of family.
Carolyn embraced life with a radiant smile, and nothing made her happier than spending time with her loved ones. She is survived by her daughters, Paula Jean Cain (Don), Julie Gay (Sam), and Patricia Switzer; brother, Billy Ray King; grandchildren, Dustin Land, Austin Ashcraft, Madison Ashcraft, Morgan Robinson, and Grayson Gay; great-grandchildren, Elenore Ashcraft, George Edward Ashcraft, Sadie Elizabeth Land, Ayana Robinson, Adrian Robinson, and Alani Robinson. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins remember her fondly and will continue to cherish her memory.
Before her passing, Carolyn was reunited in eternal peace with her husband, Paul Edward "Judge" Ashcraft; son, Paul Edward "Bucky" Ashcraft, Jr.; sister, Stanya Sue "Susie" Pittard; and her brother, Stanley Wayne King. Carolyn's zest for life was evident in her hobbies and daily pleasures. An avid softball player, she shared her competitive spirit and love of the game with friends and family. Her fondness for yard sales was well-known, a pursuit that brought her immense joy and countless treasures over the years. Fueled by her love for coffee and diet Mountain Dew, she enjoyed lively conversations and the simple pleasures of life.
In every role Carolyn fulfilled, whether as a mom, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sibling, or friend, she embodied the essence of love and kindness. Her legacy is one of heartfelt laughter, gentle guidance, and unwavering dedication to her family. Carolyn Jean King Ashcraft will be profoundly missed but her spirit will forever uplift those who were blessed to know her. A funeral service honoring Carolyn's life will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 East Main Street,
Lexington, Kentucky, 40507. Interment will follow in the Athens Cemetery with family and friends to serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held the night before on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 08:00 PM and before the service on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home.
