A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 11, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in German Reformed Cemetery, Loogootee, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral home and one hour prior to services Friday. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.
Carolyn Lea Smith was born on May 23, 1937 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Velma (Noffsinger) Smith. She married Charles V. "Chod" Kistler on June 02, 1956. Together, they raised three children and celebrated 34 years of marriage before his passing on December 03, 1990.
Throughout the years, Carolyn held various positions, including roles at the heel factory, Ben Franklin and Brockway. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and bowling. She cherished the moments spent with her family, particularly with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Kistler is survived by her daughter, Diana Moore and husband James of Pocahontas; daughter, Kathy Hawkins and husband Dale of Panama; sisters, Gaye Knohoff of Centralia and LuAnn Nestrick of Vandalia; grandchildren, Michael Jones, Christopher Jones, Ashley Moore, Alyssa Flynn, Shaun Devall, Rick Devall, Brittany Apke, Cody Kistler; great-grandchildren, Damien, Stavados, Nafiz, Ziva, Molly, Cayden, Bowen, Coleman; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Charles Bradley "Brad" Kistler; infant son, Kevin Dale Kistler; brother, Ronald Smith; grandchildren, Shane Devall and Cory Kistler.
