Carolyn Shirley Obituary

Carolyn Jean Shirley, 74, of Iaeger passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 at her residence.

Carolyn was born December 30, 1951 in Welch a daughter of the late Arlo and Vadie Mullins Whittaker. Carolyn was a homemaker; a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed watching humming birds and had numerous bird feeders.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by two sisters, Vivan Burks and Connie Burks and one brother, Rob Whittaker.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Lionel Shirley of the home; two daughters, Cynthia (Charles) Bailey of Austinville, VA, and Jeanie (Mark) Lockhart of Wytheville, VA; four grandchildren, Zachary (Abby) Gonzales, Colby and Mason Lockhart and Miranda Bailey; one greatgrandchild, Madalyn Gonzalez; four brothers, Tom (Julia) Whittaker, Junior (Wila) Whittaker, Richard Whittaker, and Jack (Lynn) Whittaker; five sisters, Loretta Shirley, Wilma (Victor) England, Betty Willis, Linda (Bill) Sellers and Barbara (Bill) Deskins; a special friend and caregiver, Donna McDonald and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11 o'clock with Reverend Bobby Barley officiating at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Friends may visit with the family at the Chapel of Fanning Funeral Home in Iaeger Monday morning from 10 o'clock until the time of service.
