JONES, Carter Brent - Age 14, of Durand, passed away tragically on Friday, July 18, 2025, as the result of a UTV accident. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek, MI 48473. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Vernon. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Carter was born on July 27, 2010, in Grand Blanc, the son of Nicholas Brent and Nicole Joyce (Cook) Jones. He had just completed his freshman year at Durand High School. Carter was a vibrant and adventurous young man who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. An aspiring beekeeper, Carter maintained several hives of his own with great pride and curiosity. He was actively involved in his school and community, serving as a member of the Durand High School Trap Shooting Team, the Durand chapter of Future Farmers of America, and the Seymour Creek 4-H Club. Carter loved working at the local pumpkin farm, where he enjoyed being outdoors and helping others.

Surviving are his loving parents, Nick and Nicole Jones; his siblings, Chloe Jones and Jason Jones (Ashley); his nephew, Greyson Jones; his grandparents, Gary and Lynette Jones, Tim Cook, and Cathy Cook; and his great-grandmother, Ann Nance. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Basil and Betty Jones, and his great-grandfather, Grant Nance.
