Toivola,

Charles P. "Chucky" Aho, 69, a resident of Toivola, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 6, at his home.

He was born on July 19, 1956, in Detroit, MI, a son of the late Philip and Irene (Heikkinen) Aho. Chuck was raised in Redford, MI, until moving with his family to Hancock when he was 10 years old.

He had attended the Hancock Schools until enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Following discharge from the Navy, he attended Mid-Michigan Community College, where he received his degree in HVAC Systems.

Chuck and his first wife, Sharon Koskey, lived in the downstate area until he returned to the Copper Country in 1994.

In 1995 he met Lori Anderson. They were married in August 1999 and made their home in Toivola until the time of his death.

Chuck enjoyed living in Toivola. He loved getting together with friends and family at his family's Farm. It was always a good day for Chuck when he was fishing, agate-picking, or just watching the sunset at Rock House Point. He was also an avid Detroit Lions fan.

Surviving are:

His wife, Lori Aho of Toivola

His sister: Ginny Diroff of Hancock

Numerous cousins

A private graveside service will be held in the Toivola Cemetery at a later date.

Chuck had a huge love and compassion for animals. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests donations to the Copper County Humane Society or K-Snag in his memory.

The Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service - Mt. View Chapel of South Range is assisting the family with the arrangements.
