Maria "Mary" Irene Garza of Holland, Michigan, peacefully passed away on April 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 12, 1945 in La Rosita, Texas, Maria was the beloved daughter of Brigido and Ercilia Peña. She married the love of her life, Pedro Garza, on December 12, 1963. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in faith, love, and family. They were married for 61 wonderful years.
Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family, and she never missed an opportunity to shower them with love. Spoiling her family wasn't just something she did; it was who she was. It brought her so much joy to give-to offer not just gifts, but love, time, and unforgettable memories. She had a deep love for God, a faith that grounded her and gave her strength. She leaves behind a family who will continue to honor her memory in the way she taught them-to love fiercely, speak truthfully, and laugh often.
She is survived by her loving husband, Pedro Garza; children, Pedro F Garza (Janice), Adela Folkert (Steve), Viola Stevens, and Rene Garza (Kim); grandchildren, Ashley Bryan (Eric), Kayla Brott (Mike), Amanda Folkert, Kelsey Kinstle, Pedro R Garza, Kacie Kinstle, Nicole Immink (Adam), Jace Garza, Colt Garza, Reese Ramirez (Brandon), and Thomas Stevens; 6 beloved great-grandchildren; and siblings Oralia Silva, Sophia Peña, Roy Peña, and Elizabeth Alvarado.
She was preceded in death by her parents Brigido and Arcelia Peña; siblings Lupe Peña, Juan Peña, and Leticia Peña; and her baby boy Richard Garza.
A funeral service celebrating Maria's life will be held on Monday May 5th, at 11am at Cornerstone Tabernacle, 781 Lincoln Ave, Holland MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday May 4th, from 5-7pm at Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 32nd St, Holland MI. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may me made to the family, in care of Dykstra Funeral Home.
