Charles Anthony “Tony” Dabbs, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at his home. He was born July 28, 1957 to the late O. M. and Shirley Aldridge Dabbs and was the husband of 44 years to Teresa Wrenn Dabbs who survives.

He attended and graduated Bartlett Yancey High School in 1975. After he attended Alamance Community College and graduated from the Auto Mechanic Program. He was a volunteer for the Caswell Rescue Squad. He started his career at Amick Motor Company in Mebane, then moved to Greg Lee Ford in Yanceyville, and Ray Motor Company in Hillsborough. He was the parts manager and could tell you any part number for any Ford vehicle. In 2007 he started his career with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, as a weight station operator, he was the number one man in the state for writing the most size and weight tickets. He retired in 2023.Since retirement he has been a full time farmer, enjoying his family and spending time with his family. You could find him in his garden or on a tractor out in the field. His favorite place to be was out in his shop rocking in his chair, smoking his cigar and playing on his IPad.

He loved his family. Teresa was the love of his life, being together for almost 50 years, married for 44. He was the best daddy; his girls thought the sun rose and set with him. He was a great father in law, and had many memories farming with Chip. He loved his dogs Katie and Bandit and his cat Fluffy. Tony was a beloved figure in the Anderson community, spending most of his time serving and helping others. His work impacted countless individuals and families.

He was instrumental in the development of the Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as a firefighter, EMT, and treasurer. He was the backbone to every stew & BBQ fundraiser. He was voted firefighter of the year in 1987 and 1988. He was a committed and dedicated member of the Southern Caswell Ruritan for 49 years. He served in the district Ruritan and held many positions. He led the blood mobiles and was the lead cook for many Ham and Egg suppers. His dedication to the Ruritan mission reflected his deep commitment to the community service and fellowship.

Tony was a faithful member of Oakview Church. He held the position of elder, deacon, and served as chairman of the board. He was involved in the Special Olympics, coached his girls softball teams, helped with elections where he was a head judge of a voting precinct, and was a substitute bus driver for several years.

His community stew was a hit in the neighborhood, every third Sunday in October. He was famous for baking. He had the best fried apple pies, red velvet cakes, and oatmeal cookies. He loved cooking and catered many events with his family.

But his favorite title was “Papa”. Anthony would spend most of his days helping Papa on the farm. Truitt was his mini me and loved doing everything papa did, He will live on through his family.

He will be missed, but his legacy will live on through his family and friends!

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Wrenn Dabbs of the home; daughters, Cheryl Huskey and husband, Chip and Ashley Dabbs both of Yanceyville; grandchildren, Anthony and Truitt Huskey; brother, Doug Dabbs and his wife, Shari of Yanceyville; his aunt, Carolyn Aldridge of Yanceyville; mother-in-in-law, Loraine Wrenn of Elon and Father-in-law, Joe Wrenn and wife, Annette of Haw River; sisters-in-law, Barbara Ribelin and husband, Tim of Elon and Erin Satterfield and husband, Stephen of Burlington; brothers-in-law, Joey Wrenn and wife, Cynthia, Jeff Wrenn and wife, Tina, Timmy Wrenn and wife, Sonya, all of Elon and Andy Wrenn and wife, Danielle of Burlington and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne and Carl Dabbs and a infant sister.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00Am, Monday, July 7, 2025 at Oakview Church by Rev. Todd Harris with the burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4PM on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the church and other times at his daughter’s residence, 2335 Alvis Boswell Road, Yanceyville, NC.
