Charles Esposito Obituary

Charles Joseph Esposito, 84

Charles "Chuck" Esposito passed away peacefully at his home on Twin Lakes, ID, on January 27, 2025. The date of November 15, 2024 catastrophically changed his life, when he suffered a severe stroke. He came home in late January, and there he was able to depart this world comfortably, surrounded by family while overlooking the lake he loved since his childhood.

Chuck was a first-generation son of Italian immigrant parents. He was born May 16, 1940, in Spokane, WA, to Pasquale Esposito and Angelina (Migliuri) Esposito. He attended elementary and secondary Catholic schools in Spokane, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Gonzaga University in 1962. He continued his education in Utah, earning an accounting degree at Weber State University in the 1980s. As a youth he was quite athletic, competing in track and boxing events.

He began his career as a systems analyst at Boeing in Seattle, WA, in October 1962. He was immediately further educated by Boeing in the emerging field of computer programming. His skill in programming often led him to assignments that involved deciphering binary code. His brilliance paid off when he survived the infamous Boeing layoffs of thousands of employees in the early 1970s. The Boeing corporation subsequently relocated him and his family to Ogden, UT, in 1974, and he devoted most of his 51-year career with Boeing at Hill Air Force Base supporting the nation's defense, working on the Minuteman missile and other strategic defense programs. He retired in 2013 and moved to Twin Lakes in 2019. His home on the lake was his sanctuary and reward for a life well lived.

Chuck was a devout Catholic. He supported his local parishes, volunteered at booster events for the Catholic schools his children attended, and donated to overseas missions. He was also a member of the Ogden chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for many years. He was a long-time active member of the Knights of Columbus. Chuck's interests included playing jazz on the piano, riding motorcycles, skiing, stock market trading, repairing cars, and delving into books on subjects ranging from science to theology to economics.

Chuck married Ruby Holder on August 25, 1962. They were married for 22 years and had five children together. Chuck is survived by his children Angela Esposito, Regina (Jason) Christensen, Sarina (Adam) Howard, and Anthony (Hilda) Esposito; his daughter-in-law Janet (Charles) Esposito; his grandchildren Nikolas and Samantha Esposito, and Isabella and Giavanna Brumley; his stepgrandchildren Nicholas, Tabitha, and Alexandria Howard; his sister Gloria (Dick) Poole; his sister-in-law Joyce (Joseph) Esposito; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and his sweet friend Helen Leonard. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Charles Jr.; his brothers Russell and Joseph; and his dear friend and companion Carole Christian. He will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, WA.
