Charles Lawson Obituary

Charles "Logger" Edward Lawson, 78, of Hot Springs, NC, made his heavenly ascent on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Charles was born December 21, 1946 in Hot Springs, NC, to his late parents, Harry Elmer Lawson and Diora Letha Gowan Lawson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deidre Beth Lawson.
He was a resident of Hot Springs his whole life. He joined the US Army in 1966 and served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return home he found a job at Ball Brothers as a Machinist where he worked until retirement.
Charles was a loving father and grandfather who made his family a priority. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson. He loved fishing, hunting, racing and sports, was a bit mischievous at times, and had a great sense of humor.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Julie Grooms and her husband Daniel, daughter, Sherry Owenby, six grandchildren: Miranda Hartman, Trent Grooms, Garrett Grooms, Summer Kinney, Shara Scaparro, and Seri Sager, his great grandson and the light of his world, Aizen Hartman, as well as numerous cousins and special friends who helped look after him by taking him meals, his mail, helping him around the home, and stopping by just to visit.
The family will be holding a memorial service on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church with Pastor Sallyanne McVay officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by the NC Army National Guard.
