Charles Michael “Mike” Lemmons, 53, of Liberal, Missouri passed away peacefully on October 26, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Clinton, Missouri to Charles F. and Linda L. (Lawrence) Lemmons. The family moved several times during Mike’s younger years, eventually settling in Liberal, where he graduated from high school and met the love of his life. He married Crystal Rachelle Smith and together, they shared 35 wonderful years. He is survived by his wife and two sons: Logan Lemmons, Liberal, Brady Lemmons (Rylea Proctor), Liberal; three brothers: David Lemmons, Rocky Lemmons (Jackie), Lamar, and Brian Lemmons, Liberal; two brothers-in-law: Leland Smith (Charlene Piel), Lamar, and Lyndell Smith (Sara), Liberal; mother-in-law, Betty Smith, Liberal; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Christina Ridgeway; and father-in-law, Marvin Smith.
Before his illness, Mike was self-employed, and he enjoyed running his skid steer to do small construction jobs. Often, Mike would use his skills as part of his ministry to help those in need. He had a servant’s heart, and was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. Mike was a talented photographer. He especially loved to pair nature photographs with verses. Mike’s faith was everything to him and impacted how he lived every aspect of his life. He had a deep, abiding love for the Lord, and he shared his faith as much as he could. Many people loved his posted “thoughts of a simple man”, often with one of his photographs. He loved his family and dedicated his life to them. His friends were cherished treasures to him, and he was always reaching out to share an encouraging word, a prayer, or just to check on them. He loved his animals, preferred being outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mike was loved by many and will be profoundly missed.
