Charles R. Pivoney, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, reunited in rest with his beloved wife, Janice (nee Trimarco). A lifelong family man and proud Chicagoan, Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty.
He was the devoted father of Charles (Mary Jo), Joanne Pezza (Jeff Christensen), Michael (Renee), Mark (Colene Hodge), and Janell (Rick) Evans; the cherished "Papa" of Melissa (Chris), Matthew, Vincent, and Maria Pivoney; Nicholas (Jessica), Tara, and Mikala Hartnett; Vanessa Pezza; Michael and Andrew Pivoney; Evey Hodge; and Anthony (Leah), Joseph (Ally), Jordan (Claudia), Maximus, and William Santiago. He was also a proud great-grandfather of Mila, Marleigh, Dakota, Maeva, Jonah and Eliana..
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Noba, nee Whitehead and three brothers James, Anthony, and Gary. He is survived by his loving siblings Ruby Reitz, Charlene, Steven, Jean, and Craig Pivoney, and many nieces, nephews, and loving extended family and friends.
A dedicated worker, Charles spent over 45 years at the and the, where his commitment and character earned him the respect of colleagues and the appreciation of the city he loved.
Outside of work, Charles treasured his family and friends, found joy in the simple pleasures: playing cards, cheering on Chicago's sports teams, relaxing by the pool, and the "occasional" trip to Las Vegas. But nothing meant more to him than gathering the family for Sunday dinners-those times full of food, stories, and connection were the heart of his world.
Papa will be remembered for his steady presence, dry humor, and deep love for his family. He lived a full life, built on tradition, loyalty, and the bonds that matter most. He will be missed beyond measure.
