Charlotte Clark Obituary

Charlotte "Pauline" Clark, 92, passed from this life on Saturday evening, June 28, 2025 just two days before her 93rd birthday. She was born June 30, 1932 in Floyd, NM to the home of Winnie Wilma Catherine (Gunn) and Herman Engelbert Eminger.
On Sept. 10, 1948 in her parents' home, she was married to Bo Clark. As Bo and Pauline were raising six children, Pauline obtained her GED, and went to work for the Portales News Tribune. During this time, she took business and accounting classes at ENMU, and was elected as Roosevelt County Treasurer in 1967 by one vote. She served as Treasurer or Chief Deputy Treasurer until she retired in 1997, this being the longest tenure of any Roosevelt County elected official.
Throughout her career, Pauline showed dedication and exemplary leadership abilities as an active member of the Democratic Party, Women's Democratic Party, Portales Business and Professional Women's Club, the Roosevelt County Historical and Genealogy Society, Oasis State Park Committee, Portales Junior Women's Club, Camp Fire Girls, Governor's Business Advisory Council, County Officials Board of Trustees, and the Air Force Academy Advisory Council. For many years she faithfully attended the First Baptist Church in Portales.
In addition, Pauline and Bo were active supporters and sponsors for their children's and grandchildren's activities, including school band, FHA, Girls' Auxiliary and all sports. Pauline's first love was her family, immediate and extended. She was given an award at the Eminger Family Reunion just this month for having five generations in attendance. She was a fierce domino player and played in the reunion domino tournament, and then played at the Senior Citizen's in Portales just last week.
Pauline enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and painting. She was active in the Portales, Clovis and Muleshoe Art Guilds, and won numerous ribbons at art shows and at the Roosevelt County Fair.
Mrs. Clark is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Cherry and Jerry Tivis of Portales, Colleen and Dennis Tollett of Inez, NM, Raye Baggish and Dean Bare both of Shalimar, FL, and Patsy and Jeff Fleming of Dora, NM; a son Don Clark and his fiancé, Denise of Tolar, TX; five grandchildren, Wayne Tivis of Ellensburg, WA, Jolene Tollett and husband, Chris McDermott of Houston, TX, Nicole and Chris Love of Duncan, OK, Kolby Tollett of Inez, NM and Kade Fleming of Portales; eight great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Herman Ray and Sharon Eminger of Las Vegas, NV, Gary Eminger of Portales and Randy and Pam Eminger of Belle Vista, AR; and three sisters, Nadine Moore of Portales, Cleo Corzine of Phoenix, AZ and Carole Bergamini of Chino Valley, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Bo Clark, who died July 6, 2012.
There will be a Celebration of Pauline's life at 2:00 PM, Sat., July 12, 2025 at Central Christian Church, 1528 S. Main Street, in Portales. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Foundation. The family is appreciative of the wonderful care provided by the staff of Good Life Senior Living and thank the many friends who have shared their sympathy and support.
