Chizuko "Chiz" Ueda Kamachi peacefully left this world on July 9, 2025 shortly after turning 100 years old while residing at Homestead Assisted Living Center in St.Anthony. Chiz was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on June 28, 1925 to Tsurunoseke "Frank" Ueda and Rino Komiyama Ueda. Chiz was the 4th of 7 children. She attended school in Ammon, Idaho and graduated in 1942. Shortly after her graduation, Chiz and several of her family members were taken to the Minidoka Interment camp during World War 2. It was there that she reconnected with Akira "Mike" Kamachi who she had met several years earlier in Seattle. They were married in April of 1945. During their years of marriage, they worked in many restaurants from Pocatello to West Yellowstone before settling in St. Anthony where they eventually purchased the building that would become Chiz's Restaurant. During this time Chiz was the Secretary of Education at the Youth Services Center and also working full time in the restaurant. Chiz was one of the hardest working ladies, but she also enjoyed gardening, bowling and trips to Fort Hall and Jackpot. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Kamachi. A daughter, Terri Singleton, a son, Scott Kamachi, a granddaughter, Amber Dawn Kamachi, a grandson Slade Singleton, and a great granddaughter, Avery Leigh Kamachi. Along with her parents and all six of her siblings Kazue (Kay), Jun (Dave), Masaji (Saj), Shoji (Frankie), Shiro (Dale) and Sho Ueda. She is survived by her son Steve Kamachi, Daughter in law Glenda Kamachi, 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday July 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. both times at the church. Interment will be at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Homestead Assisted Living, as well as a special thank you to Ann, Matt & AnneMarie with Homestead Home Health and Hospice.

While working as a teacher at the youth services center I enjoyed knowing Chiz. She was always upbeat and worked hard. Chiz' friendly personality made working around her enjoyable.
I'm sure she will be missed. She and her husband Mike were great people.
My wife and I also enjoyed The terrific food at her restaurant and ate there as often as possible.
