Christa Auernheimer Obituary

Christa Auernheimer, age 86, of College Station, Texas, passed away peacefully in her home on August 1, 2025.

Born on April 13, 1939, in Germany, Christa was the beloved daughter of Wilhelm Schulle and Else Schulle (née Volker), both of whom preceded her in death. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth and strength touched all who knew her.

Christa led an adventurous and vibrant life. She met her late husband, Leonardo (Pepe) Auernheimer, in New York City, and together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. Their journey took them across multiple continents, living in Argentina, Brazil, Germany and the United States. Christa worked as a travel agent-a career that reflected her deep love of exploration and connecting with people. Her travels spanned the globe, with memorable visits to Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, China, Canada, Egypt, and throughout Europe.

Fluent in four languages, Christa embraced every culture she encountered with curiosity. She was an avid tennis player and skier, and found joy in nature through her love of plants and flowers. Her adventurous spirit and zest for life were evident in everything she did.

Christa is survived by her loving daughter, Martina Isabel Honea (née Auernheimer), and son-in-law, Mark Stephen Honea. She was a cherished grandmother to her twin granddaughters, Courtney Anne Honea and Cassidy Caroline Honea, and her grandson, Caden James Honea, all of Woodbridge, Virginia. She is also survived by her sister, Ulla Borchard (née Schulle) of Göttingen, Germany.

Known to her grandchildren as Nana, Christa will be remembered for her boundless energy, enduring love, and the grace with which she lived her life. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A private family service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 10:00 AM to honor her life. Visitation will follow at 3:00 PM at Hillier Funeral Home in College Station. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Acara Hospice's Heart of Acara Foundation in Christa's memory.
