CLAIRE BENEWAY Obituary

BENEWAY, Claire A. (McLaughlin) Born on August 17, 1948, to Thomas and Louise McLaughlin in Roxbury, Massachusetts, passed away after a heroic battle with cancer, at her home in Plainville, on July 3, 2025. Claire leaves behind a very special and loving family, including her husband of 57 years, David R. Beneway. Claire was a proud and devoted grandmother "Nanni" to Thomas Beneway, Emma Feeley and Nolan Feeley, all of Plainville. Her memory lives on through her two daughters, Melissa M. Beneway and her partner, James Madigan and Amy M. (Beneway) Feeley and her husband, Lon Feeley, all of Plainville, MA. She is also survived by her cherished sisters, Marie MacSwain of Franklin and Margaret Morris of North Carolina; along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Claire was a loving wife, mother, Nanni and member of the human race. She supported kindness, fairness, understanding, and tolerance. Her instincts were remarkable - if you needed help or understanding, she sensed it and stepped up. Claire loved rooting for the Red Sox, watching the sunset from Old Silver Beach, taking in and spoiling stray pets and enjoying an ice cream sundae from Ron's with the love of her life. Claire is missed now and forever. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Claire's memory to the MSPCA (Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), an organization that shares her love for animals. Contributions can be made online at www.mspca.org or mailed to MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
