Clarence Dupar Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller & Hill The Funeral Directors - Alexandria on Jul. 5, 2025.
6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. Timothy NIV

On November 20, 1945, in Hamburg, Louisiana, in a little wooden house, a baby boy was presented to the late Lillie Viola Harris Dupar (5/1982) and Clarence "CJ" Dupar,Sr. (9/2003). They named him Clarence Dupar,Jr. Early life was spent in Simmesport, Louisiana, where he accepted Christ at a very young age and, as he liked to boast, was baptized in a little creek. His educational career started at Dunbar High School in Simmesport, LA, but later transitioned to Peabody High School, where he was an active member of the Glee Club, his melodious baritone voice could be heard singing " HOW GREAT ART THOU, EMMANUEL, PRECIOUS LORD, FATHER I STRETCH MY HANDS TO THEE" and a band member. Upon completion of high school in 1963, he joined the United States Army, where he served in the Vietnam and Desert Storm wars.
As a child everyone knew he would do great things and touch many lives. His rendition of playing was organizing a church service with singing, praying and shouting sisters with him delivering a sermon. He attended Rapides Parish Vocational Technical College ( now CLTCC), where he was awarded a certificate of completion in electronics and appliance repair. He later attended seminary school and graduated in Monroe, Louisiana with a BS in Theology. Rev. Dupar served as Pastor of New Bethel Community Missionary Baptist Church from 1987 until his retirement in 2023. His church was his pride and joy. Oh! How he loved his people. As Pastor of New Bethel, he fed his sheep and led them according to the visions that were bestowed upon him by the Lord. His drawing magnetism of the youth in the community let you know that he was a true follower appointed and called by Christ. His ostentatious love for children was well known, as shown by the various capacities that he afforded his presence in their lives; from coaching basketball, football and baseball to serving as the president and on the board of various youth leagues and organizing neighborhood sports.
HIS AFFILATIONS INCLUDES:
past President of UEMBA
La Home & Foreign Missions
EMBA Advisor to Rev. Renwick Bacon
General Chairman of City Wide Interdenominational committee
member of Central Louisiana Interfaith CENLA
