Claude Vines, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. A devoted husband, Claude shared 63 years, 6 months, and 16 days of marriage with the love of his life, Mitzi Vines-a bond they cherished every day. Claude was a quiet, strong-willed man who led by example and found joy in life's simplest moments. He had a deep love for the outdoors and spent countless hours gardening, hunting, or simply enjoying nature. Mowing the yard was never a chore to him, but something he genuinely enjoyed. He held a deep respect for wildlife and a lifelong affection for dogs, always finding comfort in their companionship. Claude also enjoyed collecting knives and guns, taking pride in each piece and the stories they carried. He will be remembered as a hardworking, steady presence in the lives of those who knew him-a man who didn't need many words to show how deeply he cared. Claude is survived by his wife, Mitzi Vines of Charlotte, Tennessee; his children, Victor Gerald Vines and wife Jennifer of Newellton, Louisiana, and Rebecca Vines and wife Amber of Charlotte, Tennessee; and his sister, Tammy Procell and husband David of Joyce, Louisiana. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, David Vines, Cassie Parker and husband Brian, Joseph Vines and wife Dee, Shauni Lytle and husband Rick, and Alyssa Vines. Claude was the proud great-grandfather of twelve great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Vera (Vaughn) Vines; his grandson, Christopher Gerald Vines; and his siblings, Joe Vines, Mona Vines Thompson, and Robbie Vines. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Winnfield on Saturday, July 26, 2025. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Pallbearers will be David Vines, Joseph Vines, David Procell, Mike Roberts, Evan Dodd, and Johnny Thompson.
