Claudette Sylvestre Obituary

Claudette Sylvestre, 81, of Tyngsboro, MA, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

She was the beloved wife of Eddy Sylvestre, with whom she shared nearly 56 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was a true testament to love and commitment.

Born in Jérémie, Haiti, Claudette was the cherished daughter of the late Clarence and Suriane Lafontant. She proudly graduated from nursing school in Haiti before moving to the United States, where she built a life grounded in compassion, service, and devotion to family. She retired from Fernald State School in Waltham, MA, where she cared deeply for those she served.

A woman of great warmth and joy, Claudette was the life of every party and the light in every room. She had an effortless ability to make those around her feel seen, heard, and deeply loved. Her vibrant spirit, steady presence, and boundless generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was passionate about her family, which was the center of her world. Claudette found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her loved ones-sharing stories, laughter, and always, music. She loved to dance and never missed a chance to turn up the volume and move with grace and joy.

She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church in Waltham, MA, and her faith was a quiet but steady source of strength throughout her life.

In addition to her loving husband Eddy, she is survived by her sons Edward Sylvestre and Patrick Sylvestre, both of Tyngsboro, MA; her brother Daniel Lafontant of Chicago, IL; her sister Jilbert Lafontant of Waltham, MA; a niece and nephew, five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was predeceased by her beloved son Steven Sylvestre, whose memory she held dearly every day of her life.

Her family will miss her deeply but take comfort in knowing her light continues to shine through the love she so freely gave.

FUNERAL NOTICE

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 23, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex Street, North Chelmsford, MA. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 24, at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 115 Middlesex Street, Chelmsford, MA 01863. Burial will take place at Tyngsboro Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
