Claudine Ellen Brown, 87, of Cole Camp, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2025, at her home. She was the first born of Claude Woody and Luvina Mahala (Semler) Longstreth on November 1, 1937, in Vernon County, Missouri. Her father, Woody, worked at Vernon County Dairy and her mother Luvina was a housewife at the time. Claudine was raised on a farm with her younger brother, Buster "Buddy" Scott and later on with an even younger brother, Larry Scott. After that, they had moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and had a step-sister, Sauna (Wilson) Boyd. In adulthood, she had become a single mom and was sole supporter of her children. She reconnected with her mom and kept close family ties with her and her step-father. She was a waitress at the Majestic Steakhouse in Kansas City, where she was very well liked by other employees and guests alike. It was there that she met Roger Brown, they later married and enjoyed over sixty years together. Claudine handmade her family's clothing and curtains and repaired many household items. She also made an assortment of arts and crafts and crocheted. Later in life, she took art classes to refine her artistic skills. Early in her marriage to Roger, they moved to Olathe, Kansas, where she opened and ran a home daycare. By doing this, she was able to be a stay-at-home mom and educator to a few more children. She was always striving to be a better mom, housewife, and individual. She always had her faith in God and knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior and passed on her belief to her children. In her spare time, she became a self-taught typist. For a time, she worked in a dental office as an aid, receptionist and did clerical duties. Claudine went on to work in a doctor's office which she really enjoyed. She was well liked as a person, and they really appreciated the fact that she was always a hard worker. Later, she worked at the Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe, Kansas. She worked in clerical and moved up to work in the probate department as a clerical assistant to the Probate Judge. At the age of 58, she returned to Johnson County Community College and enrolled in Cosmetology. She graduated with A's at the age of 59 and received her Kansas State License later that year, also with high percentages. In August of 1997, she became a certified Great Clips stylist. Claudine went on to open a hair and nail salon with her youngest daughter. They worked together until she retired and moved with her husband, Roger, to her oldest daughter's home near Cole Camp. She and her family all worked together to rebuild and restore her retirement home where she lived for the last 25 years. After retiring, she was sought out and found here in Cole Camp by even more sibling and their children. She was well loved in life and remembered fondly by all who really knew her. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Roger Brown of the home; daughters, Ellie Viebrock and Sherri Lynn Brown, both of Cole Camp; sons, Thomas Kopriva of the State of Florida and Mike Brown of the State of Oklahoma; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Luvina Longstreth, and sons, David Shown and Gene Shown. A celebration of life dinner will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Ellie's Acres, 19933 Heman Avenue in Cole Camp.
