Coleen Howland Obituary

Coleen Maria Howland, a resident of Ethel, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2025. She was 62 years old and is the owner of IH Tax Service and Rose's Florist in Baker for over 30 years. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home in Zachary on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025 from 1pm until Service at 4pm. Coleen is survived by her children, Jeremy Heine and wife, Brittney; Kayla Keller and Krista Palencia and husband, Luis.2 brothers, Alan Howland, Sr. and wife, Sue Ellen and Doug Howland and wife, Terri. 5 grandchildren, Nadalyn, Hayden, Emma, Cullen and Solis and her life long best friend, Sandy Singleton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ivette Howland and her sister, Haydee Clark. The core principles of biblical selflessness-love, compassion, service, and humility-were beautifully embodied in Coleen. She didn't just believe in these values; she lived them every single day. Coleen will be deeply missed by so many. She had a way of touching every life she encountered, and the number of people she cared for is truly immeasurable. Her heart was enormous, and it radiated through her bright, unforgettable smile. She was endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren. There seemed to be nothing she couldn't do-whether it was cooking, baking, crafting stunning flower arrangements, doing your taxes, or nursing someone back to health. Her talents were as vast as her kindness.Coleen had an extraordinary memory and never forgot a detail. And she never met a stranger-she made it a point to speak to everyone, always offering warmth and connection wherever she went. She was truly one of a kind. The space she leaves behind is vast and cannot be filled. Yet, her spirit lives on in the hearts of Jeremy, Kayla, and Krista, and in the countless stories and memories she created with her beloved friends and family throughout her life.
