Kinsley - Connie Jo Kerwick, 75, died July 6, 2025 at her home in Kinsley. She was born on August 12, 1949 at Dodge City, the daughter of Joe Paul and Twila (Birney) Mondy.
Connie grew up in Kinsley and was a 1967 graduate of Kinsley High School. She received her master's degree in Political Science from Wichita State University. Connie was a professor of Political Science and Government at WSU. She enjoyed fishing, music, westerns, animals, and was an avid reader of mystery novels. She was also president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #12 of Wichita for two terms.
Connie is survived by her daughter, Vicki Miller of Kinsley; step daughter, Lisa Hager of Dodge City; step-son, Christopher Oess & Crystal of Steelville, Missouri; uncle, Gerald Birney of Colorado; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; her special dog, Bailey and her family of the heart, Victor and Julie Miller of Offerle, Vincent and Taylor Ratte, Ted and Deb Blake of Kinsley, David and Davina Miller of Park City, and Danielle Moon and children. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Vicki Lee Mondy;
Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM with Mr. David Johnson presiding. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Kinsley VFW Auxiliary Post# 7349 or WAAL (Wichita Animal Action League) in care of the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
