Connie Sue Marie Roy of Akron, age 60, passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at the family cabin in Grayling. She was born July 1, 1965 in St. Clair, the daughter of the late Raymond and Norma (Lloyd) Roy. Throughout life, Connie ran her own pizza place and a gift shop, poured her energy into the family's gas stations, and loved nothing more than setting up as a vendor at local events, chatting with strangers, making friends, and soaking in the bustle. She belonged to the Christian Motorcycle Association and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening. Connie's heart belonged to her grandkids, who were the light of her life, she loved being a grandma. She cherished trips to the cabin, fireworks, especially the St. Helens show, and sipping warm, flat Pepsi or a hot cup of coffee while puffing on a Pall Mall and talking your ear off. Connie was loud and proud, a woman of strong opinions who never backed down, but she also listened, gave honest advice, and always made space for others. She could talk to anyone, and did; turning ordinary moments into conversations that mattered. Connie made impressions wherever she went-unforgettable and unfiltered in the best way and was everyone's favorite tax person. Above all, she was loving, caring, and deeply devoted to her children and grandchildren. Connie was "almost right most of the time" (and wouldn't hesitate to remind you), but she led with heart, lived without apology, and left this world better just by being in it.
Connie leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Kevin Ewald, Melody McHalpine, Melanie (Steve) Burcham, Danielle (Denton) Schanck, and Megan Dutcher; grandchildren, Brookelyn, Savannah, Kameron, Isabella, Christian, Zacchaeus, Matthew, Dillon, Levi, Harlow, Landon, Steven, Blake, Chloe, Issiah, Fayelynn, Denton, Jr., Rylan, and one on the way; sister, Tamera (Bob) Wiergowski; brother, Douglas Roy; nephew, Kyle (Amanda) Wiergowski; niece, Allison Wiergowski. In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her son, Zacchaeus Dutcher and sister, Denise Roy.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro, please wear purple in honor of Connie. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Fairgrove. The family will be present to receive visitors on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Connie's service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorial contributions to the wishes of the family, c/o Megan Dutcher, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
