Connie Nell Smith, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend to many, peacefully departed this life on September 21, 2024, in Groves, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on January 16, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas, Connie was a beacon of love and joy for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Throughout her life, Connie was known for her vibrant spirit and warm heart. She took immense joy in playing games, particularly sharing cherished moments with her family and grandchildren through Bingo, Dominoes, and Skip-bo. Her laughter and enthusiasm for life were infectious, as she also enjoyed playing slots both on her tablet and at the casino, proving that she had an adventurous side that delighted those around her.
Connie forged a loving and enduring partnership with her husband, James Smith, sharing thirty wonderful years together. She nurtured a close-knit family that includes her three daughters: Denise Major and her husband, Donald of Orange; Debra Kesler and her husband, Lance of Mauriceville; and Donna Dupuis and her husband, Chet of Groves. Each daughter carries memories of her warmth and kindness, which will forever remain in their hearts.
Connie was also blessed with five grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable pride and happiness: Melissa Thomas and her husband, Justin, Desiree Arvizo, Amber Major, Shelby Arvizo, and Michael Smith and his wife Ashley. Additionally, she welcomed five great-grandchildren into her life, Jaylin Haralson, Kylie Woods, Lylah Harper, Casity Smith, and Casey Smith, who were a constant source of joy and love.
She is preceded in death by her beloved son, David Smith, and her dear sister, Linda Johnson. Their memories will be held dearly as Connie’s family gathers to honor her legacy.
A visitation to celebrate the life of Connie Nell Smith will be held on September 26, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas, 77619. Friends and family are invited to come together to share their reflections and remember the vibrant life she lived. Connie's love and laughter will endure in the hearts she touched and the memories she created.
