Constance A. Nearhood, 68 of Ashland, formerly of Dublin passed from this life on Sunday morning, August 3, 2025 in her home with her family at her bedside.
She was born on February 20, 1957 in Ashland the daughter of the late James H. and Mary K. (nee Kotatis) Nearhood.
Connie graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1975. She went onto further her education earning a bachelor's degree from Wittenburg University in 1980 and her Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University in 1982.
She was employed at the Ohio Attorney General Office for more than 30 years, retiring in 2018.
Connie was a devoted member of the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Mansfield, Ohio. Throughout her life, she loved to travel and was an ardent reader and adored her dogs. Connie was also a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa sorority all of her life.
She is survived by her loving sister, Joan (David) Neff of Ashland; her nephew and niece, James D. Neff of Ashland and Christina (Michael) Pajestka of Ashland; and four great nieces and nephews, Noah and Oliva Sobish, and Andrew and Micah Neff.
Connie is preceded in death by her loving parents.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church with Father Michael Ellis presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery where Connie will be laid to rest with her father and mother. Following the interment service a meal and time of fellowship will be in the Trustees Room at Ashland University, 638 Jefferson, Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 265 West Third Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44903.
For those who may not be able to attend, online condolences may be shared on the funeral home's website at denbowfh.com.
Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.

I worked with Connie for two decades. First at the Ohio Attorney General's Office and later through the United States Attorney's Office. She was always a professional in her advice, demeanor and approach to case work. Working with her was a pleasure and an honor. Her hard work and counsel made everyone around her better at their jobs.
But more than an esteemed colleague, Connie was a friend. From her annual Christmas parties at her home to get togethers out on the town, she was always quick with a smile and to ask about how you were doing. She will be dearly missed.
