Corky Taylor, 66, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at his rural Alliance home.
He was born September 23, 1958 in Alliance to Harry "Jack" and Mary (Roland) Taylor.
Corky attended District 40 school for 8 years and then attended Alliance High School graduating in 1976.While in school he was a 10 year 4-H member and 4 year FFA member and avid wrestler. After high school he went on to Auctioneer School and accredited horseshoe school. While in high school he rode bulls for Cattle Capitol and was an avid team roper with many local friends. For many years he was a livestock judge at the Nebraska State Fair and an Aksarben participant.
He married Vicky (Mracek) Burback on June 14, 1997.
Corky trucked with Bud and Dave Roes for 10 years as well as Kevin Sorensen. He was also involved with ranching with Vic and Jane Krause for many years and also worked with his dad at his ranch. He later partnered with Logan McDonald in operating their trucking business.
His survivors include his wife, Vicky; her son, Eric (Leslie) Burback and their son Kade of Boise, ID, his nephew he considered a son and his financé, Logan McDonald and KayLynn, his sisters, Phyllis (Roy) Jesse of Hemingford and Joni (Darrrell) Petersen of Alliance, nieces and nephews, Andrea McDonald of Gordon, Alicia (Jayson) Keller of Mitchell, Alaina (Brandon) Schaeneman of Hemingford, Miles (Bo) Petersen of Big Piney, WY, Kristy Obermiller, Kory Knight, Lee Fritzler, Mark Fritzler, Jared Mracek and Morgan Mracek and several great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Marilyn Mracek and sisters and brothers –in law, Peggy and Steve Miles and Porkchop and Cindy Mracek.
His parents, an infant brother and his father-in-law, T-Bone Mracek preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 9 at 10:00 a.m. at the Alliance Eagles Club. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 8.
A memorial will be established at a later date. Memorials may be sent in care of the family to 5610 Cherry Road, Alliance, NE 69301.
