Corrado "Corey" Marvin, Jr.
Wadsworth
Corey Marvin, a loving husband, father, and "Papa," passed away on January 8 after a protracted illness. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Karen; son Corrado "Dino" Marvin; daughter Christina Pirouz and her husband Kayvan J. Pirouz (Atlanta); grandchildren Ashlee Marvin; Alexandra Pirouz (New York); Olivia Pirouz (Chapel Hill); and Konnor Pirouz (Scotland); as well as great-grandchildren Aubree Woods and Michael Woods. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins still in Italy, as well as his special sister-in-law Michelle Tope and her husband Lyle Tope (New Philadelphia.)
Corey was born in the town of Pula Italy on June 6, 1935, to Corrado Marvin Sr. and Santina Cek. Corey's childhood was filled with all the experiences of the war in Europe. After the war was over, he and his family were forced to flee their home in Pula, due to the rise of communism, and they eventually settled in Trieste, Italy. After graduating high school and trade school, Corey was living his best life in Rome until his parents wired and said "We are leaving for America in 2 days. If you want to go be here." So, he joined his parents and emigrated to America in 1954.
After arriving in America, Corey and his family settled in Barberton Ohio. Corey decided to enroll at the University of Akron where he studied Engineering and English. Not long after enrolling, Corey was drafted into the U.S. Army and served from 1959 to 1963. He was especially proud of his time at Fort Lee and his duties at Arlington Cemetery. Upon leaving the Army, Corey was hired by The Ruhlin Company and continued his education to become a licensed Professional surveyor. Corey was with The Ruhlin Company until his retirement in 1999.
In January of 1964, Corey met the love of his life, Karen Cox, on a ski trip to New York. This encounter led to a relationship that eventually culminated in their marriage in May of 1965. Almost a year later, their son Corrado III, "Dino," was born. Three years later the family expanded with the birth of their daughter Christina. It was during this time that Corey became an avid pilot. He was one of the pilots that helped create Wadsworth Municipal Airport and the Wadsworth Airman's Association. Corey and his family were also one of the first residents of the Weltzien Skypark. Later in life, Corey channeled the same amount of energy to golf, playing multiple times a week well into his 80's. Corey made countless friends through flying and golf and all of them contributed to him leading a colorful and fulfilling life.
After retiring, Corey took on another job that he truly loved, being a grandfather. He was known as Papa to his granddaughters Ashlee; Alexandra; Olivia; and grandson, Konnor. Each one of them brought him pride, joy and happiness. Corey started to experience this joy all over again through his great-grandchildren Aubree and Michael Woods.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Summa Care Hospice, especially Dawn, Samantha, Lisa and Barbara. Their care and compassion brought comfort during Corey's end-of-life care journey.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, January 14, 2024, at the Hilliard-Rospert Funeral Home in Wadsworth, OH. A memorial service will be conducted at 12 pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2024. An interment of the ashes will follow immediately at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery with military honors.

A wonderful neighbor. I will always remember the plane rides you took me on and breakfast. Drinking after yard work and you running through my backyard in your underwear chasing squirrels. Rest in peace. You will be missed!
