Ringling- Graveside service for Coy LeRoy “SUG” Abshire will be held at Ringling Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025, with his son Phillip Abshire officiating and grandson, Cody Abshire assisting. Services are under direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Ringling.
Coy was born Nov. 8, 1941, at Atlee Oklahoma, to the late Mr. Coy Abshire and Mrs. Myrtle Lee Evans. He departed this life on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Coy grew up in Ringling and graduated from Ringling High School in 1959. Shortly after, he married Marjorie Ellen Patkowski on May 20, 1961, in a ceremony held at Wilson First Baptist Church. Together, Coy and Marge established a loving home where they raised their family in Ringling after relocating from California in 1974. Coy began his career by building caskets, a testimony to his craftsmanship and attention to detail. He then ventured into roasting coffee, providing not just a product but also the joy that comes from a well-brewed cup. His roles included working at a gas station and serving as a high-voltage crew tech for PG&E, which exemplified his dedication to hard work and community service. He continued to build his career through the Research Division at Brown and Root Construction, ultimately finding his last position at the Uniroyal powerhouse, where he worked from 1984 until his retirement in 2003. Aside from his professional accomplishments, Coy had a zest for life that extended into his leisure activities. He cherished the thrill of hunting, the freedom of riding motorcycles, and the tranquility of fishing. Additionally, Coy was an enthusiastic baseball fan, often enjoying games and following the sport. Coy's legacy will be remembered fondly by those who knew him, embodying the spirit of a hardworking man dedicated to his family and community.
Preceded in death are his parents, wife: Marjorie Ellen (Patkowski) Abshire; Brothers Jerry, Oliver, and Billy Abshire; Son in law Richard Miller.
Survivors include his daughters Cynthia Camplain and husband Steve- Ringling; Angela Miller- Lone Grove; son Phillip Abshire and wife Donnell- Ardmore; Sister Tammy Norton and husband Henry -Ratliff City. Eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Honorary Bearers are Steven Camplain, Phillip Abshire, Cody Abshire, Hunter Abshire, Ed Larson, Dillon Garrison, Kyle Camplain.
Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel at Ringling.
