Curt D. Humphrey, 55, of rural Darlington, WI, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his home. He was born on June 18, 1970, to Francis and Marilyn (Redfearn) Humphrey and grew up in Leadmine, attending Benton High School.
Curt spent most of his life doing what he loved-working alongside his cousin and best friend, Steve "Kount" Humphrey, at Humphrey Transport and Recycling outside of Shullsburg. He was a hands-on guy who knew his way around engines and took pride in getting the job done right.
On December 7, 2024, Curt married Carmella Humphrey, and together they made their home in the country. Curt loved life in the shop, the open road on his motorcycle, and time on the trails with his ATV. He could talk to anyone, and his quick wit made him easy to like and hard to forget.
Curt is survived by his children: Levi (Olivia Brown) Humphrey of rural Shullsburg and Kevin (Alexus Bennett) Humphrey of Benton, WI; his wife Carmella at home; his step-children: Kevin Alonso and Heidi Alonso; his grandchildren: Iris Humphrey and Finnick Humphrey; his brothers and sisters: Francis "Butch" (Kay) Humphrey, Judy (Harry) Gurno, Jerry (Mary) Humphrey, Shelly (Rob Reynolds) Humphrey, Dave (Tammy) Humphrey, Sheri (Dennis) Farrey, and Sandy (Ingo) Lamberg; a special nephew: Eli (Abby Lacke) Humphrey; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Donald Humphrey and his cousin: Steve "Kount" Humphrey.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main St., Darlington), with a rosary at 12:30 PM. by Fr. William Vernon. A Celebration of Curt's Life will follow at Salathe's Saloon in Darlington. A private family burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Shullsburg at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Curt's name. Online condolences can be shared at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
