Cynthia Cindy Hockenberger Obituary

Marcy, NY- Cynthia A. "Cindy" Hockenberger, 81, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica.
She was born on April 7, 1944, the daughter of the late Coley and Sylvia Williams. She was raised and educated in local schools, graduating from New York Mills High School in 1961. On October 1,1966, at Our Lady of The Rosary Church in New Hartford she married James D. Hockenberger. The couple shared a blessed union that lasted over 58 years.
Mrs. Hockenberger was a secretary for the General Electric Company on French Road for many years, until the plants closing. Following that she held positions at JC Penney in New Hartford and White Fox Farm in Clinton.
In her earlier days, Cindy was a cheerleader, an avid water skier and enjoyed camping and boating with her husband. She also was winter outdoors woman and enjoyed skiing and snowmobiling.
She is survived by her husband, James; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kenneth and Nancy Czupryna of New York Mills; nieces Kimberly Potrzeba and her companion, Rich and Melissa Britt and her companion, Ryan; great nieces and great nephews, John, Jason, and Julia Potrzeba, and Noah, Zachary (his fiancé Giavanna) and Kaylie Britt. Cindy is also survived by several cousins and her canine companion, Apollo. She was predeceased by her in-laws, Charles and Dorothy Hockenberger, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
In keeping with Cindy's wishes, all services will be held privately. Arrangements are under the care of the Wolanin Funeral Home, 266 Main Street in New York Mills.
The family would like to thank Dr. Arul Kannon and Dr. Jerry Sloan for their wonderful care throughout the years as well as the nurses and staff at the Wynn Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
