Cynthia "Cindy" O'Connell (Kitchens), aged 59 years, passed away on July 6th, 2025, in
Los Lunas, New Mexico. Born on April 26th, 1966, in Torrance, California, Cynthia lived a life marked by resilience, love, and deep devotion to her family. Cindy was the beloved daughter of Karolina "Lilo" Kitchens (Bachl) and the late William G. "Pete" Kitchens.
Known affectionately as Cindy, Sissy, or Cindyrella to those closest to her, she built a career in the administrative side of the construction and electrical industry. Her work ethic and dedication were evident throughout her professional life, but it was her role within her family that truly defined her.
Her greatest joy came from being a mother and grandmother. She is lovingly remembered by her son Mathew Beston (father Charles Beston) and his children Amelia Beston, Alessia Beston, and Aurelia Beston; daughter Amanda Beston (father Charles Beston) and her daughter Hailey Ruiz; and daughter Cherri Martindell (father Aaron Martindell), along with her husband Chuck Harder and their children Jenna Ivnitsky and Jensen Harder. Cindy's children and grandchildren were the center of her world-her pride, purpose, and constant source of happiness.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father William "Pete" G. Kitchens, sister-in-law Cassandra "Cassie" Kitchens, and nephew Johnny Adrian.
She is survived by her mother Karolina "Lilo" Kitchens (Bachl), and her siblings: brother Robert Kitchens and his children Robert W. Kitchens and Jessica Kitchens; sister Karie Adrian along with her husband John Adrian and their son Daniel Adrian; and sister Patricia Michaelback and her husband Willie Michaelback and children Anthony Trujillo, Joshua Trujillo, and Richard Michaelback.
Cindy had an infectious smile, a big heart, and a strong unwavering spirit that touched everyone around her. She was often a source of comfort to others and lifted up many people's spirits in difficult times. She was a great mom-and an even better grandma-who found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved good music that stirred the soul, the freedom of Harley Davidson motorcycles on open roads, exploring new places through travel, nurturing beauty through gardening, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
In recent years, Cindy faced the challenges of Frontotemporal Dementia and ALS with remarkable dignity, grace, and an enduring sense of humor that never failed to make everyone around her smile. Even in illness, she remained strong for those she loved. Surrounded by her children in her final moments-comforted by their voices-she looked forward to reuniting with her father once more.
Cynthia "Cindy" O'Connell leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to live on through all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
