Daniel E. “Dan” Betz, 63 of Humboldt, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Humboldt on Wednesday evening, July 9, 2025.
Dan was born December 9, 1961 in Des Moines, the son of Ernest H. and Marilyn (Malmin) Betz. The family lived in Grimes for a short time and at early age they moved to Bode. He attended Twin River Valley School, where he excelled in track, graduating from the high school. He attended Iowa Lakes Community College in agricultural studies. In 1981 he started farming with his family. On June 27, 1987, he was united in marriage to Debra J. McClure. The couple made their home in Ottosen and later Storm Lake before moving to Humboldt in in 1995. Dan was an extremely hard worker with a very good work ethic. He enjoyed gardening, grilling and smoking meats, golf and especially spending time with his family.
Dan is survived by his wife Deb of Humboldt, his daughter Jenna Betz of Algona, son Nathan Betz of Humboldt, his grandchildren Kennedy and Kora Buske, his brothers; David Betz of Sarasota, Florida, Dean (Teresa) Betz of Gilbert, Arizona and Duane (Jennifer) Betz of Altoona, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 19th at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service in Humboldt. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. www.masonlindhart.com
