Daniel Donoghue, Sr., age 64, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, after a brief illness. Born and raised in Barnstable, Massachusetts, Dan was a proud graduate of Barnstable High School.
He spent his early years serving the community as a dedicated firefighter and, more recently, worked at Tech Edge, where he brought the same commitment, integrity, and kindness to his work.
A devoted sports fan, Dan especially loved hockey. Whether cheering from the stands or sharing the game with his sons, his passion for sports was a constant in his life and a source of joy.
Dan was predeceased by his beloved son, Mathew Donoghue, and his parents Richard and Jeanette Donoghue. He is survived by his life partner, April Jeffers; his sons Shane and DJ Donoghue; and his siblings Richard Donoghue, Michael Donoghue, and Lorrie Donoghue Morton. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
A wake will be held on Monday, July 21, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chapman Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd, Marstons Mills, MA 02648. A Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, July 22, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Parish, 347 South St, Hyannis, MA 02601, with a coffee hour to follow (location to be determined).
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Mathew Donoghue's memory to Hopeful Outreach Cape Cod, a cause close to the family's heart.
