Daniel Joe Pant, 77, of Sturgis, Michigan, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 5, 2025, at the home of his son Tom in Sturgis.
He was born July 24, 1947, in Sturgis, the son of the late Raymond and Martha Jane (Krontz) Pant. Dan was a lifelong resident of Sturgis and graduated with the Class of 1965 from Sturgis High School.
On December 23, 1966, he married Peggy J. Kipker in Sturgis. She preceded him in death on November 6, 1999. Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army from September 21, 1966, to September 20, 1968, earning the rank of SP5. He later became an over-the-road truck driver, owning and operating his own equipment.
Dan attended the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene and was passionate about drag racing and tractor pulling. He especially enjoyed building his own cars and tractors, combining his love for engineering and competition.
He is survived by his sons, Kevin Pant and his wife Dawn of Centreville, and Thomas Pant and his wife Carol of Sturgis. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Kadyn Pant of Centreville; his sisters, Margaret Flowers, Ruth Ferrier, Pamela Johnson, and Dorothy Eichorn; his brothers, Raymond Pant and his wife Jodi, and James Pant; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peggy, and his brother David Pant.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, located at 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Pastor Bill Couchenour of Sturgis Church of the Nazarene will officiate, and full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the United States Army Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to Elara Caring Hospice, 4664 Campus Drive, Suite 101A, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
