Danny Shebester obituary 1928-2025
Danny Shebester, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud
Oklahoman passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025 in Peachtree Corners, GA. Born to Albert
and Leona on July 24, 1928, Danny grew up in the dust bowl during the Great Depression in
rural Oklahoma – a time that shaped his enduring values of resilience, humility, and hard work.
Danny began his career in the oil field shortly before meeting the love of his life Lucretta Murray.
On June 11, 1949 they were married in a small home on Memory Lane in
Pauls Valley, OK.
Together they shared 73 beautiful years of marriage built on faith, love and unwavering
commitment. In 1950 they welcomed their daughter Judy Ann, who became the heart of their
family and center of their world.
Danny's oil field career would span five decades and take him all over the US and to several
foreign countries to drill wells and explore for oil production. Known for his steady hands,
tireless work ethic, and humble leadership, he became a respected figure in the industry and a
mentor to many.
Outside of work, Danny was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. He
loved to fish, hunt, and tend to his garden, taking great pride in what could grow and share with
others. Danny was always sharing his tomatoes, arm length squash, and crisp okra. He was
also a passionate sports fan, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his beloved OU Sooners.
Danny played running back for the Madill Wildcats, undefeated team his senior season in 1947.
Saturdays in the fall were reserved for football and he watched every game with enthusiasm
and pride.
Danny along with his late wife Lou, devoted their years of retirement to spending time with their
two grandchildren Joe Dan and Kristin. Whether a football game in Dumas or track meet in
Wichita Falls, they didn't miss an event. They both enjoyed traveling to NY and Georgia for visits
as well. Danny welcomed his sixth great-grandchild in December of 2024.
Danny is remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for his family, and the legacy of hard
work, faith and kindness that he leaves behind. Danny was a faithful member of the Paul & Pine Church of Christ for many years.
