Darlene Rae Baetke passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6th at Charter Senior Living of Hasmer Lake in Jackson WI after battling Alzheimer's for many years. She was born on September 4, 1939 in Marinette to Doris and Raymond Carlson. She was raised in Marinette and graduated from Marinette High School in 1957.She married Edward Baetke September 6, 1958.
He survives her as well as their two children, Cynthia Forst (James) and Mark Baetke (Diane). They also have two grandchildren, Anthony Forst (Jenny) and Holly Dow (Brennan) and three beautiful great granddaughters, Annabelle, Violet and Ruby. Her sister, Sharon Kriedeman, and brother-in-law, Alan, have three children, Kim, Leslie, and Steve, who are also a part of her treasured family.
Darlene was proud to earn her Bachelor's Degree from UW-Superior at the age of 45. This allowed her to move from teacher's aide to first grade teacher in the Marinette School system. She was involved in many groups including The Salvation Army Board, Red Hats, Holy Family Altar Society, Menominee Study Club, the Girl Scouts and curation at the Marinette County Historical Logging Museum. Her passions were sewing doll clothes and spending time with family biking around Marinette.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish-Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Taylor St. in Marinette at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12th with the Reverend Celestine Byekwaso as celebrant. Friends may visit and greet the family at a luncheon following the mass in the Holy Family Parish Center. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Salvation Army or the Marinette County Historical Society in her memory.
