A Celebration of the Life of David Chiles, 79, of Athens, is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Chiles passed away on June 28, 2025, in Athens.
David Ray Chiles was born on March 23, 1946, in Mesquite, Texas, to Lonnie J. Chiles and Lorene Faye (Borchardt) Chiles. He joined the Army while still in high school and was honorably discharged in 1969. David owned and operated the Tire Factory Outlet for nearly 50 years. He was a hard worker who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time as a Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Anthony Chiles; and by numerous siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Diane Chiles of Athens; his children, Jason Chiles and wife Cristal of Forney, Jimmy Chiles of Bogata, Gina Cline and husband Tom of Fairfield; daughter-in-law, Donna Chiles of Athens; grandchildren, Sierra Jaure and husband Anthony, Peyton Chiles, Karlee Chiles, Katie Radke and husband Brandon, Blake Cline, Will Chiles, Ethan Chiles, and Elliot T. Chiles; and great-grandchildren, Kinsler Jaure and Hazel Radke.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10-11:00 a.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
