It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Michael Gibson Sr., a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, who left this world on July 6, 2025, at the age of 60, after a battle with cancer. David was born on November 19, 1964, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to Donald Edward Gibson and Drucilla Ann Gibson (Vacca). He brought joy to those around him with his crazy sense of humor, tenacity, and vibrant spirit.
Dave grew up in a loving family and was preceded in death by his father, Donald, and his sister, Mary. He is survived by his mother, Drucilla, his brother Darrin, and his sister Denise. David's legacy continues through his children: Emily (Jarin), David Jr. (Maegen), and Mary, as well as his granddaughter, Liberty. He also leaves behind his lifelong housemates, Delbert and Peggy, and many cherished nieces, including Schuyler, Jessica, and Josephine, as well as a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
A proud graduate of Harding High School, he went on to carve a path for himself as a freelance contractor and mechanic, showcasing his knack for problem-solving and his love for all things mechanical. His passion for cars was matched only by his enthusiasm for sports, particularly the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors, fishing and playing golf whenever he could. His interests were as varied as his sense of humor, and he had an extraordinary ability to connect with others over shared hobbies.
Dave was known for his stubbornness and resilience; he faced life's challenges head-on and never allowed anything to stand in his way. Always the resourceful one, he was renowned among friends and family for knowing where to find the cheapest gas prices in the area, a testament to his practical nature and desire to help those around him save a little extra.
A celebration of Dave's remarkable life will be held at The Sanctuary in West St. Paul, Minnesota, on July 20, 2025. We invite all who knew and loved him to join us for a casual gathering in the community room on the 2nd floor, 12-5 PM. At 2 PM, we will take a moment to share eulogies and memories. In honor of his spirited love for sports, we encourage attendees to wear Minnesota Twins or Minnesota Vikings gear.
In this difficult time, we extend our gratitude for your patience and understanding as we come together to celebrate the life of a man who brought laughter and love into our lives. Dave will forever remain in our hearts, and his memory will continue to inspire us all.
