With heavy hearts, we share the passing of David Alan Glessner, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend whose vibrant spirit and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew him. David passed away unexpectedly on July 9, 2025. He was born on January 5, 1956, in Peru, Indiana. Dave lived a life full of laughter, love, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty, kindness, and unforgettable memories.
Dave was known for his unwavering reliability, his warm smile, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He brought these qualities to every aspect of his life, whether spending time with loved ones, serving his community, or pursuing his passions.
An avid boating enthusiast, Dave found joy and peace on the water. He embraced lake life to the fullest, participating in powerboat poker runs and making treasured memories at Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow. Some of his favorite travels included trips to Miami, Key West, and many beloved Florida destinations, always in the company of family and friends.
Professionally, Dave was a skilled collision estimator at Hare Estes Collision of Carmel, where he brought precision, integrity, and a tireless work ethic to his craft. His commitment to serving others extended to his time as a reserve police officer and member of the rescue dive team, reflecting his deep sense of duty and compassion for his community.
Dave is lovingly remembered by his son, Richard Glessner; his daughter, Jody Butler; his grandchildren, Brody Bryant and Tori Butler; and step-mother, Jarunee Butler. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald Glessner and Doris Butler, step-father, Noble Butler; his brother, Mike Glessner.
A visitation will be held in Dave's honor on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Home, 209 West Jackson Street, Cicero, Indiana, 46034. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 11:00 am at the same venue.
We invite you to share your memories and upload photos of Dave on his memorial page. Let us remember him for the adventurous, reliable, loyal, and loving individual he was. His spirit will forever live on in our hearts, and his legacy will continue through the stories we share.
