David Glyen Hunt
David "Buster" Hunt, 87, of
San Saba, Texas passed away at home on October 13, 2025. A graveside service for David will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 17, 2025 at China Creek Cemetery in San Saba and will be officiated by Pastor Terry Smith. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.
David Glen Hunt, 87, was born January 5, 1938, to David Lee Hunt and Lula Marie Miles in
San Saba, Texas. David was the oldest of three children. Though he dropped out of school early, he was a wiz at math and followed in his father's footsteps learning a lifelong trade as a carpenter. He could spit imperial measurements; calculate angles, areas and proportions like nobody's business. There was nothing he couldn't build. Upon his first marriage on July 31, 1962, to Betty Jean Ridings in
San Saba, Texas they moved to Fort Worth, Texas where they lived until 1971 before moving to Johnson City, Texas. Together they raised three children. Pamela, Bobbie and Melvin Hunt. In 1980 the couple separated for a short time when he met Minnie. Together they had one son, Cody Hunt. David and Betty reunited and returned to San Saba where he would spend the rest of his life. In June of 1985 the couple divorced and he married Oralia Hernandez. Together they raised two children, Jesse and Bonnie Hunt. In later years the couple divorced and he never remarried.
David loved to read his bible. He kept it with him whether in his chair, in the bed or on his walker always keeping it at arm's reach. He loved watching his boys play football in high school as they all inherited his athletic abilities. His girls were his girls, and he loved them all the same. He loved watching westerns, reading a good book and giving his little sister, Madeleine, "Sister" as he called her a hard time. It's no surprise that his passion was for animals as his best friend in life was his dog, Buddy. Buddy was his joy in his later years as the two spent their days looking after one another until Buddy's death a few years ago. David lived a long full life with family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents, David Lee and Marie, one brother-Sunny and one sister-Madeline, one grandson-Bryan, and one ex-wife Betty.
David is survived by three sons, Melvin Hunt of San Saba, Jesse and wife Jamie Hunt of San Saba, Cody and wife Maria Hunt of San Benito; three daughters, Pamela and husband Troy Van Cleave of Richland Springs, Bobbie Muncy of Gatesville, and Bonnie and husband Franky Jr. Soto of Richland Springs; his grandchildren, Stefan and wife Kim, Sonni and partner Justin, Zylie, Atleigh, Rextyn, Korina, Joseph, Isaac, Emily, Jonathon, Rena and partner John Paul, Ben and wife DeAnna, Cassie, Kasey, Camden and Kyler as well as numerous great-grandchildren.
