The family will receive friends Monday morning, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. at New Hebron Baptist Church.
Mr. Kirby will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers, including Mike Zachary, Chris Royer, Terry Frisenda, Boog Stephens, Todd Morgan, and Larry Bishop.
David Allen Kirby was born on February 21, 1956, in Pensacola, Florida, to Hazel Smothers and George Kirby.
Mr. David did it all. He worked in the oilfield for 12 years. Afterward, he owned and operated his lawn care business, Total Lawn Care, for 10 years before becoming a millwright until his retirement in 2018.
David loved his family. His favorite way to show his love was through his cooking. He was in the kitchen every chance he got. If he wasn't in the kitchen, he was in his garden checking his tomatoes, peppers, squash, or whatever else he had planted. He also loved his Atlanta Braves fiercely, but not as much as he loved watching his great-grandsons play baseball or keeping up with his granddaughters' soccer and cheerleading careers. Mr. Kirby was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
David is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Smothers, and his stepfather, Gene Smothers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Kirby of New Hebron; his parents, George and Doris Kirby of Silver Creek; son, Adam Kirby (Kim) of Jacksonville, FL; his daughter, Jessica Zachary (Mike) of Jayess and his sister, Debbie Smisek (Rick) of Silver Creek. The legacy of their pawpaw will also live on through his granddaughters, Sidney Royer (Chris), Annaleigh Zachary, Ava Kirby, Audrey Zachary, Kate Kirby, and his great-grandchildren, Easton, Holt, and Nova Royer, and a host of other family members.
